10 Random Ways to Build Backlinks

There is a large multitude of ways to build links to your website, but different link building strategies work differently for each kind of website you are promoting.  Some links will get you more traffic than others, some links will get you more pagerank/SEO than others, but in most cases a link to your website is a good thing!  In this post I will go over 10 random ways that you could use to build links to your website.  You can determine how valuable each type of link is, and although you’ll probably know some of these methods for building links, hopefully at least one of them will be helpful to you.

1. Upload youtube videos and include a link to your website in the description:  This definitely depends on the type of website you are running, entertainment based websites work the best.  It all depends on how many people enjoy viewing what you’re uploading to youtube, how well you brand the video, and how relevant your website is.  This method works whether you run an entertainment site or a product review blog, you just have to make sure and go about things in a smart/entertaining or informative way.

2. Comment on very old Digg articles:  These are really valuable dofollow links, in fact; I can still trace back to some of the digg articles I’ve commented on from a year ago.  Digg pages have high pr, and although you won’t get a lot of traffic from a link on an article that most people won’t be reading any more, you will get some good link juice for SEO purposes with this link building method.

3. Google a Dofollow blog directory, pick a niche related to your website, and then comment on some articles leaving a link back to your site.  Do Follow blog comments are a great way to get a little bit of traffic and PR.  When you comment someone’s blog, they are likely to check out what website their commentor is coming from, and if it’s a popular blog other readers will follow your link back to your website.  You could get some new readers by commenting on blogs in the same niche as yours, and move up the ranks in the Search Engines.

4. Directory Submissions:  This is one of the oldest linkbuilding techniques in the book.  You could either submit to paid directories like Romow.com or go to a site like addurl.nu and submit to the hundreds of free directories.  Either way, when you submit to directories you will mainly be working on your Pagerank and SEO.

5. Ping your Website/Blog:  There are tons of auto pinging websites out there nowadays that make pinging your website take like 5 seconds.  It doesn’t exactly get you a link from each of the sites you are pinging, but sometimes you do get a backlink, and new pages of your website get indexed in the search engines faster when you ping popular services.  Like Technorati for example.  Some autopinging sites include; Pingler, pinggoat, auto pinger.  Just Google it!

6. Add your link to your social profiles:  This is pretty obvious, whenever you join a website that asks you for your homepage url, put your website there.  You are allowed to add links to your profile in Digg, Twitter, Reddit, and tons of other social bookmarking sites.  Not to mention the fact that you can use the social bookmarking sites specifically to add your articles to their website.  You can also put your homepage links on the front page of your profiles in facebook, or the about me section of Myspace.  Be creative, create bulletins or post notices linking to your website.  Links like that are good for traffic.

7. Answer questions on Yahoo Answers:  Search for unanswered questions on yahoo answers, and put your website in the ’source site’ section when you answer questions.  The more relevant the question, the more valuable the reader.  Although if you get ‘best answered’ to a really popular question you could see quite a bit of traffic coming in for a long time.  I’m not sure whether or not Yahoo Answers is Dofollow or Nofollow, but I’m going to assume it’s Nofollow and still say it’s useful.

8.  Guest post on other people’s blogs.  If you have a friend that owns a website or blog, write a post on his website for free in exchange for a link back to your website.  That’s an easy traffic/PR boost depending on how much authority the website your guest posting on has.

9. Join forums and get active posting in topics related to your niche.  Sometimes you can take excerpts from guides or resourceful posts you’ve written and post them as a new topic on a forum.  When you do that you can leave a link back to your website and if people find your post interesting they will finish reading it on your website.  To take a more subtle approach you could just add your link to you forum signature.  In that case, the more posts you have the better!

10. The holy Grail of Blackhat link building software is another option for building links.  You can try purchasing XRUMER, which costs at least a few hundred dollars, but is very capable of earning you a PR-2 or PR-3 with one run of the program.  I’m not sure exactly how it works as I have never tried it, but I’ve heard some great reviews and I’m going to try and get my hands on it as soon as possible :) .

So anyways, that’s my list of ways to build backlinks to your website.  Not to unique, but that’s what my ‘full method’ posts are for.  So anyways, good link building links to your websites guys.
